Mississippi Blues Marathon Presents $10,000 to the Blues Musicians Benevolent Fund
On Thursday, February 7, 2013, the Mississippi Blues Marathon was proud to present a $10,000 check to the Mississippi Blues Foundation. The check presentation took place at the Fourth Annual Mississippi Music Celebration at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles, California. The Celebration featured performances from the North Mississippi Allstars and Steve Forbert. The Mississippi Music Celebration was part of GRAMMY Week events leading up to the 55th GRAMMY Awards. Each year, the Mississippi Blues Marathon donates a portion of its proceeds to support the state’s music heritage. Since the inaugural race in 2008, $60,000 has been provided to support programs like the Blues Trail and, most recently, the Blues Musicians Benevolent Fund, which helps blues musicians in time of need.
