Kid's Race Bib
We’re excited about welcoming your child(ren) to the Mississippi Blues Marathon Kids’ One-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, January 11! We hope your child is looking forward to being part of this exciting event! Here’s some helpful information for you to know as we get ready for the race on Saturday, January 11!
Packet Pick Up
Race packet pick-up will take place at the Mississippi Blues Marathon Expo at the Jackson Convention Complex located at 105 E. Pascagoula St, Jackson, MS, on Thursday, January 9 from 3-7 p.m. and Friday, January 10 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. If your child participated in the "Get Ready to Run" School Program and your school arranges in advance, race packets for those students will be picked up by a school representative. The school will be responsible for distributing the packets to participants.
Your child’s safety is the most important priority for our race staff. We go to great measures to ensure their safety and we appreciate everyone abiding by our rules to accomplish our mission.
First, You will receive a packet. In this packet will be a designated colored t-shirt that your child must wear on race day. Your packet will ALSO contain your child's race number that MUST be worn on the front of their shirt. Attached to the race number is a PARENT CLAIM TICKET (See Diagram on left). You must detach this and keep it with you so that you may identify and claim your child after the race (we have provided an extra safety pin if you would like to pin the claim ticket to your own shirt). No child will be allowed to leave the designated fenced area unless the parent/guardian has the matching number on their claim ticket. No IDs will be accepted in place of the race number. You MUST have the matching race number!
Second, we’ll have course marshals and guide runners along the course so your child will not be able to make a turn that is not on the course. They will ensure that the runners stay on the correct course while offering them encouragement to finish strong. This is also another reason your child must wear their designated race day t-shirt so our officials can identify them. Please educate your child on how the actual race will take place and that they should not leave the finish line area for any reason except when their parent/guardian picks them up using the matching claim number from their race bib.
What to Wear and Why it Matters
All participants must wear their official race shirt to help identify the children as official race participants. The color of each child’s shirt will help to determine where to line up to begin the race and to group the children after the finish. Shirt colors are assigned based on the age/grade of the participant. Balloons in colors matching each age group t-shirt will be placed in the areas where the children should line up to begin the race and in the areas where they will wait to meet their parent/guardian after they finish.
Arrival Time and Location
Please plan to arrive between 7-7:30 a.m. at the Mississippi Museum of Art Garden, located at 380 S. Lamar Street in Downtown Jackson. The Kids’ race area will be on the north end near the corner of Lamar and Pascagoula. Look for the Planetarium Dome. Our information booth and kids’ area will be nearby.
Parking will be on a first come, first serve basis. Please arrive in time to allow for parking and walking to the start area.
